Pixie HeartStrings was inspired by all the little Pixies who are being raised by other family members when their parents are unable to do so...

About

I had been raising my Granddaughter for quite some time and began to hear of more and more Grandparents who were stepping up when needed to provide these displaced children with a caring, loving environment when their parents, for whatever reason, are unable to do so.
One day on FaceBook, a dear friend of mine in a similar circumstance as myself put the message out that another Grandmother had stepped in and was taking custody of her newborn Grand baby. The Grandmother needed help with clothing, baby furniture, and basically everything that goes along with raising a baby.
As I began gathering items to donate, I decided I would make the baby an afghan so she had something warm to cuddle with. I made her some soft washcloths. A few hats followed. A bunny cuddler with a teething ring attached.
For some reason, I felt connected to this Grandmother & this baby, both of whom I had (and have) never met. It must be a Grandmother thing...
Then I started to make hats & blankets and other items for different babies & children I heard of. I just wanted to help out & perhaps bring a smile to a child who was put in a different situation through no fault of their own. They just really tugged on my heart strings...
And then, after making another item for that first baby, I was told her name was "Pixie" & at that very moment, Pixie HeartStrings was born...
I am selling the items I make here in my Etsy Shop so that I can continue to make & give to all those "Pixies" that I hear of. I also donate hats to various chapters of "Crochet for Cancer".
I am paying it forward one hat at a time...
Meanwhile, my own, not so little anymore "Pixie" is thriving. She recently received straight A's on her report card all while participating in a grueling dance and rehearsal schedule for a role in West Side Story...
She makes me proud to be her Grandma...
Please take a browse through my Pixie HeartStrings shop and know that my products are made with great attention to detail. Meticulously crocheted & sewn in a clean, loving home...
